Abhi Subedi is an essayist, critic, playwright and poet. He has over two- dozen books on different subjects to his credit. He has written over 10 plays several of which have been performed by strong theatre groups in Nepal and abroad. Professor Subedi has taught for nearly four decades at the Central Department of English and outside. He is the founding President of the Nepal Centre of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) UNESCO and former President of the Linguistic Society of Nepal and Literary Association of Nepal, and currently vice-president of Nepal Folklore Society. He is involved in a number of interdisciplinary study groups and a prolific writer on issues of freedom and social transformations. He is an art reviewer and literary critic with cultural studies as the focus. His essays and seminar papers are published in Nepal and outside. He has participated and presented papers in seminars in Nepal and abroad.
