Sachendra Manandhar was born on September 16, in Kathmandu, Nepal. He did his schooling from Adarsha Vidhya Mandir (AVM) and holds a Masters Degree in English Literature from Tribhuvan University.
He is the only Nepali to have received an award from International Library of Poetry [ILP], Queensland, Australia. He won a Third Prize Award that carries a medallion in the International Open Poetry Competition for his poem “The Last Supper” in 1999, which was anthologized in Fire in the Heart and also archived later by ILP. [He was the only Asian to have received the medal that year.]
The international anthologies, wherein this works have been featured, are Fire in the Heart, Memories of the Millennium by International Library of Poetry [ILP], Queensland, Australia; Visions of Tomorrow, Preserving the Past, The Best Poems and Poets of 2002, Colors of Life, The Best Poems and Poets of 2005 by International Library of Poetry [ILP], Maryland, The United States: Songs of Honour by Noble House Publishers, U.K. /U.S.A. The foreign journals, wherein he has been featured, are American Journal The Poet’s Corner by ISP, U.S.A; and Danish Journal PEN Nyt by Dansk PEN [Danish PEN], Copenhagen, Denmark.
He has also received four miscellaneous awards called Editor’s Choice Award; once from ILP, Australia and three times from ILP, USA. His poems and articles have been widely featured in leading periodicals, newspapers and literary journals in the country viz. The Kathmandu Post, The Independent, The Space Time Today, The Rising Nepal, Of Nepalese Clay, Rang Yatra etc.
He has been honored with Youth Ambassador for Peace Award by Universal Peace Federation [UPF], Kathmandu in 2010 and Rang Nepal Award for Poetry by Color Nepal, Kathmandu in 2010.
He is an insurance executive by profession and holds the position of Asst. General Manager in Alliance Insurance Co. Ltd. a leading insurance company in Nepal.
His anthology/collection of poems titled "It's all written in the stars!" was published in 2011.
